Huckabee Rips Steele, Romney, LGBT Activists

Calls Romney’s Healthcare Plan “Dismal Failure,” Compares Same-Sex Marriage to Incest

UPDATE: PERSPECTIVE RESPONDS TO HUCKABEE CLAIM THAT HIS VIEWS WERE ‘GROSSLY DISTORTED’ IN ARTICLE (4.13.10)

In an interview Wednesday, former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee weighed in on embattled Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, slammed his potential 2012 presidential primary rival Mitt Romney, and reiterated strong opposition to same-sex marriage and the repeal of ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.’

The popular Fox News host, who appeared at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ, leveled into Steele for his handling of last week’s revelation that RNC officials spent donor money at a bondage-themed Los Angeles strip club. “I think what’s happened is horrible,” Huckabee said. “The question is, how is [Steele] going to take control and how is he going to explain it? I think there does need to be a better explanation than what’s come forth so far,” he continued. “It’s been pretty weak.”

Huckabee said ongoing controversies involving Steele may become an electoral liability for Republicans as this year’s midterm elections approach. “It’s indefensible the way that some of the money has been spent,” Huckabee said, though he declined to call for Steele’s resignation. “Whether he should resign really is a question for the RNC, and I’m not a member, so I’m not going to get into that.”

Huckabee also blasted fellow presidential aspirant Mitt Romney, who as governor of Massachusetts signed into law a healthcare plan that closely resembles Congress’ recently passed reforms. “Essentially ‘Obamacare’ and what Massachusetts has is virtually identical,” Huckabee said, characterizing the system Romney supported as a “dismal failure.”

“It’s resulted in huge cost increases, exponentially beyond what was projected,” he charged. Romney’s inconsistent public comments on the matter, Huckabee continued, is likely to be a concern for Republican primary voters in 2012. “On one hand, [Romney] said the Massachusetts plan is not like the Obama plan. Then I heard him say, ‘Well, it’s similar, but we’ve learned a lot from it since then.’ So he’s going to have to come up with one answer that deals with it,” Huckabee said. “I think he’s got to make the explanation as to why he believed it was a great idea.”

Huckabee, a former Baptist preacher, remains in favor of keeping in place ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,’ the policy that requires the military to expel openly gay service members. “I wouldn’t support a repeal if I were commander-in-chief,” he said. “You don’t see foot soldiers out there demanding it. I’m not sure that’s the most important thing we ought to be doing for the military.”

“[‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’] touches an extraordinarily small group of people,” Huckabee continued. He dismissed calls to amend the policy as “primarily a posturing point for political purposes,” and an attempt to “force something on the military that they themselves haven’t pushed that hard.”

Huckabee speaks with TCNJ press corps

“I think we certainly should be very sensitive to the fact that the purpose of the military is not to see if we can create social experiments,” Huckabee warned.

He continues to oppose any government recognition of same-sex relationships. Even civil unions are “not necessary,” Huckabee said. “I think there’s been a real level of being disingenuous on the part of the gay and lesbian community with their goal of civil unions,” he alleged, referring to LGBT activists who first claimed that their goal in several states was to enact civil unions, but subsequently launched efforts to implement full marriage rights.

Huckabee went on to draw parallels between homosexuality and other lifestyles that are considered by some to be morally aberrant. “You don’t go ahead and accommodate every behavioral pattern that is against the ideal,” he said of same-sex marriage. “That would be like saying, well, there are a lot of people who like to use drugs, so let’s go ahead and accommodate those who want to use drugs. There are some people who believe in incest, so we should accommodate them. There are people who believe in polygamy, so we should accommodate them.”

He also affirmed support for a law in Arkansas that prohibits same-sex couples from becoming adoptive or foster parents. “I think this is not about trying to create statements for people who want to change the basic fundamental definitions of family,” Huckabee said. “And always we should act in the best interest of the children, not in the seeming interest of the adults.”

“Children are not puppies,” he continued. “This is not a time to see if we can experiment and find out, how does this work?”

In what may come as a surprise for some, Huckabee agreed that an atheist could be fit to serve as president. “I’d rather have an honest atheist than a dishonest religious person,” he said.

“It’s better to have a person who says, ‘Look, I just don’t believe, and that’s where my honest position happens to be,’” he said. “I’m frankly more OK with that than a person who says, ‘Oh, I am very much a Christian. I very much love God.’ And then they live as if they are atheists, as if they have no moral groundings at all. That’s more troubling.”

“I think it’s nice if a person believes in God,” Huckabee said. “I’d hate to think somebody was making decisions who thought that he couldn’t be higher than himself.”

  1. But allowing people to do what they want is not “accommodating” them. I don’t even know why I’m responding to this actually. This is all just shocking. I feel embarrassment for Mike Huckabee.

  2. David in Houston,

To say this man is stupid, would be an insult to stupid people. It’s 2010 and ignorant people are still comparing sexual orientation to drug abuse and incest. Amazing.

People that adopt children are well aware that they aren’t raising a puppy. If he really cares about “the children”, he should remove all the children being raised in single-parent families. Children need to be raised by a mom and a dad. Isn’t that right, Mr. Huckabee? He should just call himself a bigoted homophobe and be done with it.

    • Fail!!,

Im just shocked that he compared drug use to incest! Alcohol is a drug too, so is he saying that he, himself is a gay, incestous, drug user with more than one ligit marrige?

    • january,

Mr David, must feel terrible to be insulted……..from your response the word “stupid” is clearly defined.

    • JERRY N LA,

sOMEBODY NEED TO TELL YOU PEOPLE ALL OF YOU ARE MENTALLY ILL. READ THE RISE AND FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE AND COMPARE IT TO AMERICA TODAY. WHAT YOU ARE IS SICK, SICK, SICK. GOT GET HELP NOT SCREWED,

      • Alex,

Your inference that the fall of Rome was due to the toleration of homosexuality is incredibly outrageous and uninformed.

First of all, committed gay relationships were socially looked down upon in Rome. The accepted practice of homosexuality was pederasty, which is incomparable with gays in America gaining civil rights.

Secondly, take your OWN advice and study your history!
The Fall of the Roman empire was caused by the over-expansion of the Roman territory, an inundation of Germanic tribes fleeing from the invasion of the Huns into Northern Europe, corruption and dissidence within the government, the abandonment of former Roman tradition due to the formation and acceptance of the Christian Church, and widespread disease.

Keep all of that in mind the next time you use that ignorant argument.

  3. DB,

“And then they live as if they are atheists, as if they have no moral groundings at all.”

And from the atheists – fuck you very much. Nice to see that “Christians” like Huckabee, in all their “tolerance” and “love”, can’t seem to pull their heads out of their asses and see that the atheists tend to have better “morals” than they do. Atheists have a lower divorce rate than evangelical Christians. There are fewer atheists per capita in the prison population than in the general population. We have morals – seems to be, better than yours. We don’t hate like you do, and we’re content to let others live as they wish to live. You wish to dominate everyone else – hence the Christian Dominionist movement you’re a part of.

Well… seems to me that being an atheist makes for a better family life than a Christian. I know lots of Christians who were “blessed by God” with a spouse, who ended up divorced soon after. I’m still married to my wife of more than 6 years, quite happily, without the interference of the church.

So for all of your kind demeanor, for all of your pretty words, we know that what you say is as prejudicial, as abhorrent, as downright nasty an inhumane as anything out of the mouths of the KKK or the Westboro Baptist Church. The difference between Fred Phelps and Mike Huckabee is that Huckabee has a better makeup artist. Disgusting.

    • A lot more colorful than I said but spot on. We Atheists are good for GOODNESS sake.

    • KA,

As much as I found your post hurtful, you’re absolutely right. Huckabee is just one more traditionalist, judgmental Christian who is giving all of God’s children a bad name. It’s people like him that make the world view Christians as hypocrites; it’s time all true Christians started practicing what they preach: God’s love and acceptance of ALL people, regardless of race, religion, and sexual orientation. As a devout Christian, I am both shocked and insulted by Huckabee’s statements. To equate homosexuals to drug users and incest is beyond sick. I am bisexual, and everyone I have ever met in my Faith community has loved and supported me.

  4. John P.,

He more than ripped “LGBT activists” … unless one automatically considers anyone in their families to be ‘activists.’

He pretty flat out called their children dogs, and equated the couples to drug abusers, incest, etc.

  5. stephanie s,

Huckabee’s son is a dog killer. Not kidding–he hanged a dog at a summer camp.

Interesting–that Huckabee would bring up puppies.

    • MajorTom,

Budding psychopaths often kill animals as a precursor to killing humans. If Huckabee’s son has done this, what does it say about HIS parenting skills? Somehow I don’t think he’s qualified to say who should be raising children.

  6. Marlowe,

It’s nice to see you’ve titled yourself the “TCNJ Press Corps” Michael, but a fine story in all seriousness

  7. Damn…I thought most homos liked to “do” animals….do they know that adopting a child is not the same as beastiality? (cynical if u havent figure that out yet)

  8. Richard Cox,

I have a feeling Mike Huckabee can see Russia from his house.

  9. Jas Hunter,

I would vote for Sarah Pallin in a heartbeat before I would EVER vote for this fat lame-ass old jerk.

  10. The next time you see this man, who seems to be eating his way through America again (it’s one of the Seven Deadly Sins, Mr. Huckabee — GLUTTONY), and he tries to pass himself off as a moderate of some kind, remember this interview. Remember that he tried to equate gay people with drug users, incest perpetrators and polygamists. Remember that he wants to deny perfectly loving gay couples the right to raise children because they are same-sex parents. He’d rather see straight couples adopt or foster-parent children ripped from gay couples’ homes, or even see those children languish in group homes for lack of available parents.

REMEMBER THIS INTERVIEW. Mike Huckabee is not the genial fellow he pretends to be: he is an ignorant, hateful, bigoted monster in disguise. (And his lapse back into uncontrolled eating is SURELY a sign of his repressed self-loathing, something NOT to be taken lightly — and I speak from personal experience.)

  11. Jamie Cody,

Mike is so brilliant. I love all of his opinions. =)

  12. stash polski,

About 90% of the comments directed at Mike Huckabee’s article are not worth reading. I wonder where are the folks that could write decent, interesting, mind provoking thoughts relative to Mike Huckabee’s comments. Actually, the drivel and bottom of the barrel words spewing forth in these comments is unfair to “The Perspective.” Take sides, but do it in a wholesome manner.

  13. Sick Sad World,

This man is horrible. Poisoning American minds one comment at a time.

  14. slaughter,

“And then they live as if they are atheists, as if they have no moral groundings at all.”

As a longtime atheist, Gov. Huckabee, I’ll put my morals up against yours any day. In fact, my wife says that I’m the most “Christian” man she knows. I think she meant that as a compliment.

P.S. Mike, better hit the treadmill again. From the above shots and your appearance on “The Colbert Report,” it looks like you’re backsliding, and that’s not good for your health.

  15. Kathryn,

Where do all these fundamentalists find the time to mind everyone’s business? It’s all I can do to keep my own house in order.

  16. Michael,

I’m glad to see Huckabee take a position against people with no morals who profess to be Christians. I only wish he’d spoken out against those hypocrites while Bush was in office.

  17. Lisa,

You have got to be kidding me!!! The scientific data on gay parenting is very positive and clear. This guy has absolutely no idea what the F he is talking about. I am so tired of the uneducated and stupid having a voice. There are not always two sides to every story. Sometimes there are just facts and data vs. stupidity or out right lies. We do not have to tolerate liars. Call them out. Mike Huckabee is either stupid or a liar. I am calling him out!!!!

  18. Cernunnos Trismegistus,

Umm, Mike, a little research in cross-cultural studies will show you that there isn’t a consistent “basic fundamental definition of family” worldwide. Not that I would expect POLITICIAN to have a nuanced understanding of cultures beyond his own.

  19. “And then they live as if they are atheists, as if they have no moral groundings at all.”

Mr. Huckabee you sir are way off base here with that comment. Morals DO NOT come from you bible or any other religious text. They come from you and me and what benifits the society we live in, animals do this in the animal kingdom(moral behavior).

Do I need to point out all the evil and UNMORAL works in your bible?

Drugs, incest and polygamy are prohibited for EVERYONE! Marriage is prohibited for just Gays and Lesbians. It’s about Civil Rights, Mike.

  21. Furley,

Mr. Huckabee is a great think-on-your-feet type of guy and has a great sense of humor. He reminds me of someone else.

  22. DuckPhup,

Huckabee: “It’s better to have a person who says, ‘Look, I just don’t believe, and that’s where my honest position happens to be,’” he said. “I’m frankly more OK with that than a person who says, ‘Oh, I am very much a Christian. I very much love God.’ And then they live as if they are atheists, as if they have no moral groundings at all. That’s more troubling.”

Professional Christ-cult LFJs™ (Liars For Jesus) like Huckabee promote the idea that good and evil are ‘things’, or some kind of ‘force’… something that has some sort of corporeal form of existence in the universe, put there by God. Similarly, they regard ‘morality’ as some sort of emanation from the godhead… and if you don’t ‘believe’ in God, this emanation is inaccessible to you, and thus, you cannot be ‘moral’. Some of them go so far as to think that ‘morality’ did not even exist before Moses brought the Ten Commandments down from Mount Sinai, and prior to that, it was perfectly acceptable to run around assaulting, raping, stealing, murdering, coveting, and dishonoring your parents. To them, it is ‘obvious’ that people who do not ‘believe’ in the Ten Commandments think that it’s OK to do all those things, and the only thing that STOPS them (unbelievers) from doing those things is fear of getting caught and punished by civil authorities… and, of course, all civil law is BASED on the Ten Commandments. I’ve even had Christ-cult God-bots tell me that “God’s Law” is the ONLY THING ) because of their ‘sin-nature’) that keeps THEM from running around assaulting, raping, stealing, murdering, coveting, and dishonoring their parents. Right… the only reason that the world is not worse than it already is, is because of their stupidity and gullibility.

And they wonder why we (sane, intelligent, educated people) laugh at them, and call them morons, and piss and moan about how contempt and derision for their toxic, drooling stupidity amounts to ‘persecution’.

    >>> “We’ve been attacked by the intelligent, educated segment of the culture.” ~ Pastor Ray Mummert, creationist, from Dover, Pennsylvania, re: ‘Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District’ trial, 2005 <<>> “Ethics is theory… morality is practice. Ethics are the guidelines upon which you decide to conduct your life. Morality is the measure of how well you do in trying to accomplish that. The ethical man knows he shouldn’t cheat on his wife, whereas the moral man actually wouldn’t. When one’s morals fail to match up with one’s ethics, there’s a word for that too: ‘hypocrisy’.” ~ Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum) in the CBS television series ‘NCIS’ <<>> “I am treated as evil by Christians, who claim that they are being persecuted because they are not allowed to force me to practice what they do.” ~ D. Dale Gulledge <<<

    • Natasha,

nobody wants to force anyone to believe…You have to accept God and believe. Its just plan by what you wrote that you need to read the Bible. It does not state that before Moses they didnt have rules..like I said read! And I pray that before your time you will accept God.

      • Nathan,

Perhaps people who profess to love Christ don’t want to force anybody to believe as they do, but they sure as shootin’ want to force everybody to behave as if they did. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be the anti-abortion crusades with attendant attacks and murders by moral poseurs in the name of God, temperence laws, vice laws and anything remotely associated with victimless crime. And, that’s just a start. This is the same position and attitude that brought us the Crusades, aboriginal annihilation in America, and Al Qaida terrorism. No matter what is said about Chirst’s setting aside Old Testament laws, which he pointedly did not, the “infidels must die” is still central to the arrival of the Kingdom of God. More than just reading the Bible, Natasha, it would do every Christian well to learn about the development of the Bible, and how the hand of man has thoroughly corrupted the so-called infallible word of God. The adoption of the King James Version of the Bible is but one, highly aggregious example among literally hundreds of thousands similar and lesser corruptions of an already mystically mythical attempt to desccribe the nature of reality. Even if the original text were penned by the hand of God itself, what we have now does not resemble, through erroneous and willfully false translations, gratuitous ammendments and additions. Don’t even get me startei on the bonehead, self indulgent interpretations that pass for gospel in every traditional, mainstream steeple and bell towered congregation and extending as well to each independant, urban storefront gathering in Christ’s name. You talk of study, Natasha. Why do you complain of the speck in your neighbor’s eye when there’s an effin’ forest of logs in your own?

  23. Matt,

Huckabee you just need to go away.

  24. Larry,

Hmmm….bringing up the polygamy issue aimed at Romney’s Mormon religion again. That wasn’t by accident but by design Mr. Huckabee.

  25. Natasha,

Every needs to remember even people that are NOT gay have the right to their opinons! It is not natural for a man to want to be with a man and a woman with a woman, if it WAS then the world would have ended LONG ago! But if that is want you like that is your business but we need not to change the rules for yall! The Bible states a “marriage should be between a man and a woman”. And yes I know not all believe in the Bible. But just because you like something doesnt mean the world needs to change anything for you!

    • Really? Can you convince some of your Bible Wielding friends to keep to themselves? Fundamentalists are the cause of death and despair in this world. Over the years, especially the Christians.

    • Dale,

Typical religious person using the Bible to justify and enforce their hate, fear and ignorance on to the world. We will never have a chance for peace in this world until ALL religion is given a funeral.

    • Nathan,

Yes, Natasha. Very well put. Just because you are fooled by the Bible doesn’t mean the world needs to change anything for you. Modern morality is far superior to the letter of the law in the Bible. That’s because of the progression of human consciousness, and the ability of the masses, those without alot of money and alot of power, to overcome the repressions of those in power, the ones with the power who would rather keep it for themselves while depriving both money and power from the masses. Constantine, in the 3d century, instituted Christianity as Rome’s official religion in order to control his troops and his countrymen. This also signaled the inevitable end of the Roman Empire which was directly resultant. Christianity has controlled the masses among the many of the world’s mightiest nations simply because it was a very efficient explaination of The Way Things Are as well as extremely effictive in making docile the lower social classes. Science changed all that, and is slowly eroding the power of religion over the world’s population. Just because you and those who haven’t progressed beyond Iron Age perspectives want to cling to the old world ways doesn’t mean the rest of the world needs to stop changing anything for you.

  26. Intolerant jerk. Christianity is bull shiiiite. Go ask some abused boys. Go ask battered Mormon wives.
Disguting. We must take their tax-exemption away. It is a farce. Family values my A$$. Go get a C Street room Mike.

  27. Dale,

WOW – A politician talking about being honest and trustworthy, hilarious! Boy oh boy, this guy is pandering for votes from anti-gay voters. (secret message) He implied that heterosexual marriages last a lifetime, bad example. I would like to see him run his mouth on Black People the way he does on Gay People. Politicians have done ALOT more harm to this country than any Gay Person could possibly do.

  28. Excellent job, young journalists! You had the tapes to prove it. You wrote it down word for word. You are feeding him back his twisted words. I applaud The Perspective and its staff. They took on Goliath and let him cut his own head off. Brilliant. I wonder when Politicians are going to wake up and realize that they can’t rewrite their words, their stands, their votes–and that, as a previous poster suggested, we will remember. Huckabee has not only pit himself against what he thinks is a “small” part of the population–but a part that has growing support, that has children, friends, religious leaders and denominations. He has sided with bigotry, and shows himself in this shining moment to be un-American (as he has just condemned 10% of Americans, and their children, and their friends). A whopping 90% of Americans polled in a 1995 Harris Poll said that they believe society should value “all types of families.” You’re working against America if you don’t support LGBT families, LGBT soldiers, their friends and families. Good job, Perspective staff, for exposing this grossly indecent politician. I leave you with 1 Tim 4:12 “Never let them look down on you because you are young; instead let them see you as an example in speech and behaviour, your love, faith and sincerity.” You are the example for the world in speech, behavior, love, faith and sincerity. Good job.

    • zachgarber,

No, he didn’t. Listen to the recording. Huckabee is misquoted here. Huckabee actually says, “And then they live as if they are atheists, OR as if they have no moral groundings at all.” Huckabee’s formulation makes a distinction and the editor, I think, intentionally left out the “or.” The editor obviously doesn’t like Huckabee (I’m no fan), but the editor has to play it straight, and hasn’t.

    • Furley,

jstueart, I like the King James Version of 1 Tim. 4:12. Don’t you?

  29. Fte,

Gomer needs to stick to playing (poorly) his bass. And when was the last time you heard “athesists invade…. .

  30. Tyler D,

If Mr. Huckabee realy was a true Christian he would not be judging his fellow human being because Christians are called to respect the divinity found within their fellow man. Therefore Christians are lead to live non judgemental lives. Unlike this idiot.
Second this nation was founded upon the enlightened ideal that all men are created equal. This does not mean that every man recieves equal income, or has equal power or equal opportunity, but rather we are equal in accordance to the law. And if that is so than what gives any man the right to deny a civil union between two people, or not allow them to serve their nation in the most honorable and selfless way. According to American law being gay is equivalent to being less than human. Also it is an insult, not just to the gay community, but to humanity in general to compare to two adults marrying each other to incest and drug use. I think the only thing hear that has been grossly distorted is this bigots humanity, or lack there of.

  31. I listened to the tape and read the article. This is an obvious case of an inexperienced reporter exagerrating what Gov. Huckabee said in order to attract attention to the article. This is unprofessional. Ironically, listening to Gov. Huckabee reminded me of why I trust him so much with our future. All in all, I thought Huckabee displayed a lot of patience in that audio tape.

  32. Harry,

To all who attack Huckabee as a Christian:
The same Jesus who said, “judge not” also said “judge not by mere appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” Read the gospel of John, Romans 1:24-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9, 1 Timothy 1:10 and the Bible as a whole, and stop using a proof text or two to establish your own brand of theology. Homosexuality is sin and I applaud Huckabee for taking a stand, compared to so many on the college campus (professors included) who try to create a God after their own imagination to suit themselves; a God they’re more comfortable with. If you want to disagree with Huckabee, then disagree; but don’t give us a Bible proof text out of context to justify your position, or try to tell folks that true Christians support the homosexual lifestyle. We’re called to turn from sin (not live in it) and put our faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.

    • Tyler D,

Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor? James 4:11-12

Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 33. Phillip in Arkansas,

Huckabee was a lousy governor who had all of the hard drives on all computers in the governors office destroyed when he left office. Why would a preacher turned governor decide to destroy the computer hard drives? Covering up something Huck?

  34. Stephen,

It’s nice to see someone not compromise his morals and beliefs in today’s times. I admire Mr. Huckabee for that, and i’ve never been a big fan of his in the past. Just because some people “want” and “like” to do certain things doesn’t make it right. Some pedophiles do claim they were “born that way” and have no control over their thoughts about children. So are their “rights” being violated by not allowing them to “live” as they were born? Think about it folks; it IS the same reasoning when comparing it to “gay” marriage, just as Mr. Huckabee says. Just because a “society” favors something (and I don’t believe the majority favors gay marriage – even in California!), doesn’t make it right.

  35. MoralAtheist,

“And then they live as if they are atheists, as if they have no moral groundings at all.”

That phrase if offensively insulting. Atheists have the same moral groundings (or lack there of) as any theist.

The fact that atheists make up a much smaller percentage of the prison population than they do the general poulation points that atheists may be better grounded morally than theists on the whole.

To say that to live as an ateist is to live immorally is insulting. To think that worry of devine punishment is all that’s keeping a theist from being immoral is scary.

    • zachgarber,

Listen to the recording. Huckabee is misquoter say that. He actually says,“And then they live as if they are atheists, OR as if they have no moral groundings at all.” Huckabee’s formulation makes a distinction and the editor, I think, intentionally left out the “or.” The editor obviously doesn’t like Huckabee (I’m no fan), but the editor has to play it striaght, and hasn’t.

  36. Hi very good sharing. thanks a lot

  37. Jarad "Stonewall" Collin Francis Sassone-McHugh,

This offends me as a drug user. Drug use is soooooooo much cooler than being gay!

  38. It’s because people like Mike Huckabee say that there isn’t that much of a push against DADT that gays and lesbians in the military (or those who have been discharged) need to continue speaking out against such a hateful policy. Mike Huckabee constantly refers to LGBT issues as “social experiments,” which really just exemplifies how little he knows about gay people, and how he inherently views them as second class citizens who aren’t as clear-headed, rational, or responsible as straight citizens.
Social experiments like overturning anti-miscegenation laws were ALSO changing this “tradition” of marriage, and yet somehow fairness and justice trumped the moral high-ground of “tradition” or fears of change (which is actually what his euphemism of “social experiment” is referring to).

  39. De,

I live in Arkansas and I am ashamed of our former Governor, Mike Huckabee. He should go back to preaching in a church or keep doing his conservation show on FOX and stay out of the presidential race. I will do my part to keep him from getting elected.

  40. I’m really gonna think about this.

  41. LGBT should still be respected and cared. They are humans and they have a heart.
